Delightful Planet was founded on a single conviction: that the natural world is not a backdrop to human life — it is the story itself. Three and a half billion years of evolution have produced intelligence, beauty, and design that most people never get to witness. We exist to change that.
We call this planet literacy — the capacity to truly see, understand, and feel connected to the living systems that sustain us. Not as a scientific exercise. As a personal awakening.
We began with the ocean. It covers 71% of our planet, regulates its climate, and sustains the majority of its life — yet fewer than 5% of people ever dive beneath its surface. Most of its magnificence remains unseen.
Delightful Oceans is our first platform — bringing that magnificence to everyone, everywhere. Five content sections spanning hundreds of species, marine sanctuaries, virtual expeditions, and authentic personal stories from the sea. No wetsuit required.

Dr. Nathan is an environmental scientist with extensive research experience across diverse global ecosystems. His career has spanned the Smithsonian, Duke University, and Divers Alert Network (DAN). A passionate naturalist, scuba diver, hiker, and global traveler, he believes every species — with its unique adaptations — represents a marvel of design.
He founded Delightful Planet to showcase Earth's natural wonders and remarkable wildlife for everyone who calls this planet home.

I have spent my career in the company of extraordinary living things — in laboratories, in the field, and beneath the ocean's surface. What strikes me every time is not how different these creatures are from us, but how much they have figured out. Three and a half billion years of R&D, all around us, mostly unseen.
Delightful Planet exists because I believe that if more people could truly see this — really see it — the way we treat our planet would change. Not from guilt or obligation, but from genuine love. That is what planet literacy means to me.
